The PC-1 Coda encapsulates Air Tight’s decades of technological innovation and expertise in cartridge design. Building on the success of Air Tight’s cartridge design, PC-1 Coda incorporates advanced technologies, delivering greater resolution, speed and power than its predecessors, the PC-1 and PC-1 Supreme.
The cartridge body, which houses the power generator, coils, and magnets, has a significant impact on sound reproduction quality. During the development process, Air Tight experimented with many different Aluminum alloys for the chassis, listening to each type for their distinctive characteristics of strength, frequency response and total sonic capabilities. Ultimately, Air Tight settled on A7075, a metal known for its high tensile strength. A7075 had the combination of tonal qualities which allowed music to be reproduced more faithfully. A thick layer of nickel (50 μm!) and a final chrome finish, add beauty, resonance control and an unparalleled improvement in resolution.
The suspension mechanism is new to the PC-1 Coda, both revised and upgraded. This ensures that the PC-1 Coda delivers a stable, high-resolution image mirroring the power and spatial qualities of live music.
Air Tight continues to use Boron for the cantilever material due to its excellent physical properties of high rigidity, ultra-low mass and excellent damping characteristics.
