We’ve known for decades that laying cables on the floor or worse yet, on carpet, has deleterious effects on sound quality. The damage to the signal results in loss of resolution, squashed dynamic range, smeared frequencies, loss of high-frequency extension and detail, booming and flatulent bass. Even if you think you’re happy with your system’s performance, if your cables are lying on the floor, you’ve not heard all that your system is capable of.
The primary reason for this lies in the distortion of the ElectroMagnetic Field generated around the cable as signal passes through it. Placing cables on a boundary, especially a large and dense one such as a floor, will force the EM Field to unnaturally distend away from the boundary, distorting the signal within. Carpet is even worse, because the fibers will also generate large capacitive loads on the cable (aka static), which will cause rolling-off of the high frequencies and bloating of the lowest ones.
Then there’s the distortion created by the mechanical vibration of the floor as the speakers generate music and propel it into the room. Acoustic waves created by a pair of speakers can be measured even in poured concrete foundations and the vibration of the cabinet will simultaneously move downward out of the speaker and into the floor. Any cable lying on the floor will be subject to induced mechanical vibration.
Synergistic created UEF Carbon Elevators to raise cables well above the floor and made them sturdy enough to support the world’s best cables. Installing these slim devices under speaker cables, power cords, even long runs of interconnects or digital cables restores the fundamental aspects of system performance.
The most immediately noticeable effect is the restoration of midrange focus and clarity. Voices sound more real and life-like, instruments have greater tonal richness and even the most complex harmonies become easier to untangle. High frequencies become more natural and extended, with greater air & space as well as the preservation of the decay of notes. Bass frequences become deeper, tighter, cleaner, more authoritative, gone is overhang and bloat, revealing far superior texture and definition than before. UEF Carbon Elevators restore the system's ability to build finely detailed three-dimensional performances in a well-defined acoustic space. These should be considered an essential part of any high-performance system.
The most obvious feature of the UEF Carbon Elevators is the Carbon Fiber material used in their construction. Fantastic for vibration control, Carbon Fiber also has superb ElectroMagnetic properties which makes it an ideal material for supporting cables. The structure of the outrigger feet provides a sturdy base for each Elevator, while simultaneously “breaking” mechanical coupling with the floor.
The Red HFT mounted to the front of each UEF Carbon Elevator is specifically tuned for use in this specific context and acts as a passive resonator, breaking up potential acoustic standing waves on the flat front of the device.
Place the UEF Cable Risers under your cables with the Red custom HFT facing the listening position. Place the UEF Cable Risers at a distance which minimizes cable sag. This distance will vary depending on your cable’s length, weight, and flexibility,.
Note: Each Red HFT is firmly affixed to the front of its Carbon Performance Elevator, however, keep children and animals away from them.
