The VENOM Defender is a power conditioner unlike any other. Compact, with no chassis, no outlets and no power cord, simply plug Defender into a wall outlet and it provides impressive noise reduction and transient protection for your system!

Shunyata initially created Defender to offer high-performance plug-in protection and advanced noise reduction technology for their VENOM series Power Distributors, however, there seem to be innumerable uses for this device! Place one on the same duplex as any device you’d like to protect and condition, for example a subwoofer, a monoblock amplifier or even a standalone system. Connect one to a high-quality power strip (preferably Shunyata) to make an inexpensive and high-quality power conditioner. Use one for noisy devices such as a work computer, NAS drives or other network devices, even on outlets for dehumidifiers or air filters to reduce their noise across the whole home.

Defender does not restrict current flow! Unlike a traditional Series-style power conditioner, which must be inserted in-line between the components and the wall, Defender operates a bit differently. Defender is a Parallel-style conditioner, meaning it doesn’t have to be inline! Defender conditions any device that’s on the same circuit that it’s plugged into! This is thanks to Shunyata’s MPDA circuit which is what makes Defender so powerful and so flexible.

Shunyata’s patented MPDA (multi-phase differential array) is a 30-element filter network which targets specific noise frequencies generated by electronic power supplies. This technology was first implemented in Shunyata’s much lauded Hydra Triton series of conditioners and it’s now available as a plug-in module! Unlike transformers or capacitors, MPDA does not have to be in-line, offering superior performance in a smaller and less expensive package

A single Defender is quite effective on its own. However, when used as a pair, this combo greatly improves Defender’s efficacy. Deeper, blacker backgrounds, smoother more refined tonal balance and a more clearly defined soundstage with superior imaging.

MPDA FILTER
The MPDA filter is a sophisticated circuit which reduces power-line noise without the negative effects normally associated with conventional transformer and large capacitor design approaches.

L.E.D. FAULT
Red L.E.D. fault indicator displays the status of the internal protection circuitry. Should the light come on, the Defender has protected your system against a massive surge and it’s time to replace the unit.
