The Grail SX Phono Preamplifier
****Please note, this item is frequently subject to extended lead-times which can stretch out to 3-4 weeks.****
VDH invented their first phono cartridge stylus many decades ago, the van den Hul 1S. Over time they've produced other phono cartridges, some of which are renowned worldwide and regarded as the best in their class. However, as a leading manufacturer of phono cartridges, it was only natural for VDH to create their own phono preamplifier.
This drive led to the launch of the original Grail in 2009. Years later, they introduced the Grail SB (featuring balanced inputs and outputs) and the SE (including a dual mono board and balanced connectivity).
The Grail SX is the logical continuation of their phono preamp lineup and replaces both models as their flagship phono preamplifier.
In developing this flagship phono preamplifier, VDH have also redesigned the circuit board for a significant improvement in sound quality. The Grail SX delivers notable enhancements, particularly in terms of soundstage and airiness.
Mixed Operation for Inputs and Outputs
The Grail SX allows for mixed-mode operation of the inputs and outputs. When receiving a symmetrical (XLR) input signal, the output is available simultaneously for both the XLR and RCA outputs. The same applies to the RCA input, where both outputs can now be used independently and simultaneously.
Automatic Load Impedance
Similar to its predecessor, the Grail SX features automatic load impedance adjustment for cartridges, ranging from 10 Ohms to 400 Ohms.
Front-mounted Buttons
To enhance user-friendliness, VDH now uses illuminated buttons on the front. From here you can turn the Grail SX on and off, as well as select between MM, MC, MC1 and MC2 options.
Designed and built in Europe
Like all other van den Hul products, the Grail SX is designed and manufactured in Europe.
