A Massive Electromagnetic Sledgehammer
All Synergistic PowerCell products feature Electromagnetic conditioning. The AC signal coming from the wall passes through an Electromagnetic Cell (EM Cell), which acts as a comb-filter, effectively overriding spurious noise on the line and restoring the natural sinusoidal shape of AC power waves. This approach is remarkably effective and has the added benefit of improved current delivery! Moving up in the PowerCell series, each successive model receives more EM Cells, thus creating a more powerful effect and delivering superior line conditioning and noise reduction.

As the flagship of Synergistic's PowerCell series, the SRX PowerCell receives brand new EM cells designed specifically for this unit. These SRX EM Cells are larger, more powerful and SR uses more of them than have ever been implemented in any PowerCell to date. This gives the SRX PowerCell 500% greater EM Cell potency than the mighty PowerCell 14 and a 2,000% increase over the award-winning PowerCell SX! The SRX EM Cells also act as a supercapacitor, storing massive amounts of electrical energy enabling the SRX PowerCell to deliver enormous peak current, far more than is available directly from the wall. This effectively eliminates any current restriction, generating huge dynamic transients and creating more life-like realism in the music.

The SRX PowerCell receives an unprecedented 16 SRX EM Cells, which also allowed SR to create three separate, isolated zones of outlets within; one section for high-current devices (i.e., amps, subwoofers etc), another for analog devices and a third isolated zone for digital components. No matter how complex your system, whether you have twenty components or just two, the SRX PowerCell is the optimum way to connect them to power.

Most power conditioning components don't offer more than lip-service to the quality of their internal wiring, except perhaps a vague reference. The SRX PowerCell is painstakingly assembled using point-to-point techniques all completed with 99.9999% pure Silver wire (aka 6N).

Building an SRX PowerCell requires a whopping 133 feet of this premium quality wire, which means there is over a kilogram of pure Silver wiring inside each unit! This attention to detail ensures the SRX PowerCell delivers the highest level of fidelity and maximum energy transfer to all components.

Ultra Low Frequency tuning, or ULF, is how Synergistic "reclocks" the music inside their components. First theorized by physicist Winfred Otto Schumann in 1952, the Schumann Resonance is an ultra-low frequency pulse, also known as the "Earth's Pulse". Most of us have experienced the effects of this resonance by simply going outside after an electrical storm. Lightning causes thunder and those very large sonic booms generate ultra-low frequencies with a fundamental at 7.83Hz which clears the air of excess electromagnetic garbage in the environment. That feeling of stillness, of clarity and purity in the air, when the world feels renewed, this is the effect of the Schumann Resonance.

A Schumann Resonator recreates this pulse on a much smaller scale and Synergistic has been leveraging this technology for many years. Their Atmosphere towers and FEQ mini-towers generate variations on the Schumann Resonance within their environment. In fact, most upper-level Synergistic components have a variation of this tech built-in. Adding ULF inside the chassis is transformational, allowing Synergistic components to deliver music with effortless ease and unmatched tonal purity.

For the SRX PowerCell, Synergistic took this concept to a whole new level. Starting with an already high-performance power supply and very powerful ULF generator, Synergistic leveraged their extensive experience to reinvent the way the ULF interacts with the components inside the SRX PowerCell. This involved a reformulation of the ULF Bias, modifying how ULF is integrated into the chassis, upgrading the ULF's power supply and using more advanced 24K Gold UEF tuning circuits for increased harmonic richness and improved tonal fidelity. These changes allow Synergistic to very precisely tune the bias for each of the ULF modes inside the unit, allowing for much greater impact and more audible changes when selecting between modes.

There are three user-selectable ULF modes available with a push of the button on the front panel:
Blue (Default): This option offers laid-back midrange with linear transition of notes from low frequencies to midrange to highs. Creates a large and enveloping soundstage.
Green: Midrange is slightly more forward compared to the Blue option, with a touch more bass emphasis. Great for older recordings, or those that weren't so good to begin with.
Red: Convincingly portrays large-scale performances, delivering a greater sense of space and air in the soundstage. Works fantastically for electronic music.

Grounding of any audio component is important to keep the noise floor low, this is equally important in a power conditioner. The SRX PowerCell's internal power supply and ULF Generator get the same UEF Ground Plane first developed for the Galileo SX PowerCell, which drops the noise floor, improves tonal fidelity and increases the unit's ability to build a properly sized and well-defined soundstage. To take the SRX PowerCell's performance even further, Synergistic has incorporated a separate Ground port directly into the rear. This creates an easy connection point to any of their Ground Blocks. Simply connect the SRX PowerCell to one of Synergistic's Active Ground Blocks for a huge improvement in low-frequency weight, air, attack, as well as improving low-level resolution and perception of note decay.

The SRX PowerCell offers enormous flexibility, because in effect, this is two separate power conditioners which just happen to share the same chassis. A quick look at the rear panel demonstrates this is true, as the unit has dual 32A Neutrik PowerConn connectors, with separate power switches and requires two separate power cords (included), one to power each zone. The bottom zone is split into two isolated sections. The bank of four outlets on the left hand side are intended for ultra-high current draw devices, i.e. amplifiers, subwoofers or powered speakers. The bank of eight outlets directly to its right is intended for Analog devices, this section is isolated from the other two banks for the ultimate in purity. Directly above the Analog section is the second zone, containing a third isolated bank of outlets, this one intended for use with Digital devices. 

There is no difference in the conditioning provided to any of the banks of outlets. The so-called Digital section simply does not share a power cord with the other two sections. Synergistic did this to isolate any spurious noise generated by digital components from the other outlets, however, in reality, this separate section could be used as an isolated bank of outlets for any device, analog or digital. This section could be used to isolate an analog rig from the rest of the system, or perhaps to isolate a high-quality reel-to-reel with its large motors. Perhaps to feed a home-theater system or a high-quality video display. There are no limits to how these three individual sections might be used. The flexibility created by this triple-bank approach and the large number of outlets available makes the SRX PowerCell unique among high-end power conditioners.

Featuring 20 SR Quantum Pink Outlets arranged in three banks for superior isolation and properly spaced to allow even large power cords to fit comfortably, the SRX PowerCell has a few other interesting features. For instance, a carbon fiber shelf to support heavier cords (US models only) and a pair of 5VDC Linear Power Supply USB outputs, which can be used to power Synergistic's Atmosphere or FEQ modules or any other USB device which would benefit from pure, well regulated power.
