CM-R1 RCA Socket (Each)

In 2003, DH Labs introduced their Ultimate RCA plug, a revolutionary design which set a new performance standard for high-end audio connectors. 

The CM-R1 is the matching chassis-mount Female RCA. Like the Ultimate RCA plug, the CM-R1 is made entirely from their proprietary High Copper Alloy and features their exclusive Ultra-Gold plating. This chassis socket is made available to end users and OEMs who seek the best possible sound from their audio systems.

The use of High Copper Alloy as the main conductive material is important, and different, because virtually all of the RCA Connectors used by today’s top cable manufacturers are made using brass. There are a number of different brass alloys, generally featuring a combination of copper (around 60%) and varying amounts of zinc, lead, and even tin as stiffening agents. After all, Copper is quite a delicate materia and the presence of these other metals greatly reduces the manufacturing cost as it makes those lesser materials much easier to machine and process. 

There is a cost for that ease, though. From an electrical standpoint, these other metals are actually impurities in the material which drastically reduces the electrical conductivity of the resulting alloy. For example, the conductivity of brass alloys is generally only about 26% that of pure copper, a whopping 74% drop in efficiency! DH Labs has always believed that this loss of conductivity directly affects the overall performance of audio cables. 

DH Labs worked with top metallurgists to develop and refine this ultimate connector alloy. Years of exhaustive research created their exclusive “High Copper Alloy” ^TM,, a 99.5% pure copper connector with a conductivity rating at the top of the industry. Trace amounts of two other (non-magnetic) metals are added to bolster hardness and strength, ensuring the Ultimate RCA will deliver great sound for decades of use. Even the plating process was modified to maximize signal transfer. What makes this connector an even better value is that all the materials used in its construction come exclusively from US sources! 

Installation requires a 10 mm or 7/16" chassis hole when used with the supplied insulating washers. May be used without the washers, which will then require an 8 mm or 5/16" hole.
