Foundation XL Speaker Cable (Pair)

Benefitting from learnings upon the development of their flagship SRX XL cable line, Synergistic's Foundation XL Speaker cables deliver notably improved performance above the Foundation SX series and continue to be offered at attractive price points. While the line as a whole can be thought of as an evolution from the Foundation SX, these cables have been rethought holistically, applying the same improvements Synergistic has made to their flagship SRX XL cable series.

Just like other Foundation SX series speaker cables, a "pair" of Foundation XL consists of four separate cables, two for the positive and two for the negative. This unconventional arrangement greatly improves all electrical characteristics of the cable and is what contributes to Foundation XL's outstanding sonic performance.

For each cable type, Synergistic has doubled the 6N pure silver Air Strings to portray music with more immediacy and resolution, improving upon dynamics and transient response in a completely non-fatiguing way. The same SRX XL UEF compound as described above is applied to the cables to improve shielding. And finally, the cables are run through the same SRX XL High Voltage Conditioning treatment that used for their flagship SRX XL cables.

With Foundation XL, you’ll notice improved dynamics and more natural timbre. The noise floor is lower and these cables deliver excellent musical detail, with unexpected realism for a cable at this tier.

SRX XL Matrix Shielding
In their journey to design their flagship SRX XL series, Synergistic developed an entirely new UEF compound to elevate the performance of their previous generation Matrix Shielding. This new technology further lowers each cable's noise floor while lessening restraints a shield may have on signal transmission. They've applied this highest level of SRX XL Matrix Shielding to the Foundation SX XL cables for a significant jump in performance over Foundation SX. The included set of four Carbon Fiber UEF Tuning Discs developed for the Foundation SX and Foundation SX XL series cables further refines and enhances the loom's ability to cancel noise that would otherwise cause high frequencies to sound harsh or fatiguing.

6N Pure Silver Airstrings, Multiplied
While voicing the Foundation SX XL, Synergistic found that doubling the 99.9995% Pure Silver Airstrings resulted in cables that are faster and more resolving. The additional Airstrings adding texture and body while improving dynamics and transient response without adding fatigue.

SRX XL High Voltage Conditioning
The new SRX XL High Voltage Conditioning is Synergistic's most advanced process for treating cables with 1,000,000 volts of electricity at specific frequencies and pulse modulations for long durations, creating a canal in the conductor material and contact points at the molecular level that allows electrons to flow more freely. This new process improves upon the SRX High Voltage Conditioning process by employing new extended duration sweeping frequency plots and advancements to our Tesla Coil, resulting in SRX XL cables to sound even more open and accurate than the cables before them. For Foundation SX XL, this exact conditioning process contributes to the large performance improvement in this series, bringing the voicing of Foundation SX XL closer to that of SRX XL.

Carbon Tuning Discs: Tune to Perfection
Included with Foundation SX XL cables, Carbon Tuning Discs are a spinoff of Synergistic's Atmosphere SX technology where they are placed inside cables at key locations and are instrumental in building SX level performance. Based on patented UEF technology, each disc gets treated with a unique UEF compound which interacts with EM fields anywhere you place them in, either in your system or on cables to improve sound quality. The conductive carbon fiber material of the disc enhances the interaction between the UEF compound and the surrounding EM fields wherever it is placed. 
     Gold Carbon Tuning Discs flesh out rich harmonics combined with a clarifying effect in the sound field for a more lifelike and holographic presentation.
     Purple Carbon Tuning Discs are treated with a UEF compound to enhance clarity and extension in the soundstage beyond what Gold provides.

SRX XL Quantum Tunneling: After the cable is completely assembled all connections and cabling are treated with 1,000,000 volts of electricity at specific frequencies and pulse modulations, creating a canal in the conductor material and contact points at the molecular level that allows electrons to flow more freely. This allows the maximum amount of low level information through the conductors and provides for the highest amount of realism in your music

Proprietary UEF Treatment
Graphene is applied directly to the RCA connectors, significantly reducing the noise floor and allowing a purer signal to transfer with less grain. This reveals greater warmth and detail. Each cable also receive a secondary UEF Blue Treatment, which was originally developed for SR Blue Fuses.

First, some history. When bi-wiring was introduced in the late 1970s, amplifiers and speakers benefited due to the relatively modest performance of the speakers and (especially) the cables of the day. Electronics, speakers, and cables were simply nowhere near as sophisticated as they are today. In fact, speaker cables then were little more than unshielded 16AWG lamp cord made from the lowest grade of copper with mediocre insulation. Because of this, doubling up on this wire turned out to be better than using a single run. Sadly, as electronics and speakers advanced over the intervening years most speaker cable designs have just not kept pace.

For today’s high-performance speakers to perform their best, it’s critical that they be fed a phase-correct signal. Essentially, this means that the signal delivered to the speaker should be in perfect phase alignment across the entire frequency spectrum. There are a number of sonic benefits to this approach, including improved low-level spatial information, a well-defined and holographic soundstage, precise image placement, impact and depth of low frequencies as well as clean and clear high frequency extension.

Synergistic discovered nearly 20 years ago how hard it is to get one cable in perfect phase alignment across the entire frequency spectrum. However, when the cable gets split internally to create bi-wire, the very different loads of the separate elements of the crossover will invariably cause phase distortions within the cable.

IFT (Integrated Frequency Termination) provides ideal phase alignment. IFT delivers speed, PRAT (Pace, Rhythm and Timing), high frequency extension and with low frequency performance far better than any internally biwired cable geometry can. This is because the full spectrum of frequencies and phase information is present across the entire length of the cable.
