The HFT Speaker Kit Mk2, a complete re-engineering of your speaker's potential!

We all know that speakers exist in an acoustical space, thus the biggest limitation to any speaker's performance is the physical space they're installed in. Speakers are entirely dependent on their acoustic space to build a realistic portrayal of the recorded event, however, most rooms simply can't support this. Synergistic HFT Speaker Kit Mk2 completely rewrites this equation by transforming the acoustical space the speakers occupy, greatly expanding their performance capabilities.

Reimagining the entire HFT concept, the HFT Speaker Kit Mk2 includes a total of 14 HFTs, sufficient to upgrade a pair of speakers. The Mk2 kit includes six types of precisely tuned HFTs which are deployed in an asymmetric geometry, optimized for their specific role on the speaker and creating a profound and startling improvement. Once the Mk2 kit is installed, the speakers disappear, delivering a sonic presentation which is tonally accurate, impressively focused, with extraordinary spatial realism and an emotional immediacy that was previously only available in the recording booth.

The various types of HFT included in the Mk2 kit enable faster "activation" of the drivers and creates tighter phase alignment. This is made possible by the controlled asymmetric deployment developed specifically for this kit. Each of the seven positions is independently tuned to complement the others in ways that a symmetric placement could never achieve. The results speak for themselves; instruments bloom with greater body and realism, vocals appear with stunning presence/vibrance, and recordings dynamically scale effortlessly from the most intimate of performances to the most raucous.

The HFT Speaker Kit Mk2 isn't an upgrade, this is what your speakers were always supposed to sound like.

For those familiar with the original HFT speaker kit, the Mk2 HFT Kit will be quite familiar. There are still six HFTs to place on various parts of the speaker and a seventh to install on the ceiling above the speaker. However, the placement of the various HFTs. The biggest change is that there are now six types of HFT in the Mk2 Kit, allowing for refined precision and far more potency. In fact, Synergistic developed an entirely new HFT specifically for the rear of the speakers, one that's half the height of a standard HFT and half the width of an HFT Wide. When installed, these hybrid HFTs generate an impressively realistic and well-formed soundstage.

Synergistic includes a portion of white non-marking "museum putty" with every set of HFTs. This putty is the same material used in museums for hanging small placards and is designed to be removed without leaving a trace. Museum putty can be used on virtually any speaker finish without fear of damaging the finish.* Since even the largest HFTs only weigh a gram or so, a small amount of putty is sufficient to affix each HFT. We usually use a small ball, roughly equivalent to half of a small grain of rice. Placed in the center of the back of the HFT, pressing the HFT onto the surface will squash the putty onto the surface and create an air-tight seal. To remove, gently peel the HFT off.

Pro-Tip: If you're experimenting with multiple positions for an HFT, trying to find its optimum placement, consider using multiple putty patties, one for each position. This way you can quickly move the HFT from each prospective location without the stress of trying to remember exactly where it was placed previously!

*If your speakers are unfinished, we highly recommend trying a bit of this putty on an inconspicuous location on the speaker before applying HFTs. Use your best judgement.

High Frequency Transducers (aka HFTs) are small aluminum cylinders, each of which contains a small diaphragm tuned to a specific frequency. The compression horn in the front of each HFT focuses the acoustical energy entering the structure, causing the diaphragm to resonate. This resonance disrupts the acoustic wave around the HFT, somewhat akin to breaking up a standing wave. By varying the shape of the HFT and the resonant frequency of the diaphragm, Synergistic can tune an HFT for nearly any purpose.

The effect created by installing HFTs is profound as they tame and focus previously unmanaged high frequency information. Despite their small size, or maybe because of it, HFTs deliver huge gains in focus, drive and refinement which affects the entire sound spectrum from the highest frequencies all the way to the deepest.

HFTs are precision tools designed to be installed in specific formations, this allows them to completely transform an acoustical space without overwhelming it. While Synergistic provides broad recommendations in their owners manuals for HFTs, once the initial installation has been completed, experimentation with placement and additional HFTs is not only recommended but encouraged!
