Omega QR-s Power Cord

The Source "QR-s" version is a smaller, lighter in weight, and more flexible Omega designed for source components. 

Shunyata Research’s Caelin Gabriel was given a challenge.  Create a design platform that would finally answer the question, “What level of performance is actually achievable from power cord technology?”.  Remove any and all constraints regarding construction time and difficulty and ignore cost limitations to produce the ultimate power cord.

The Omega QR was the result of that research project that spanned more than 3 years, involving literally hundreds of tests, designs and construction solutions.  Then, many requested a smaller brother that was smaller, lighter in weight and more flexible and designed for source components.  And the Omega QR-s is born.

QR/BB™ TECHNOLOGY

The QR/BB™ module possesses the ability to act as an electric charge reservoir, meaning it stores and releases energy in a manner that improves a component’s access to instantaneous current.

Dynamics are actually improved reducing any sense of dynamic strain often heard from amplifiers that are connected with lesser power cables.

The sonic result is a lifelike presentation of timing and dynamic contrasts in sound that cannot be replicated by ANY other means.  In layman’s terms, it acts like a super-charger for amplifiers, pre-amps, DACs and CD players.

NIC™ TECHNOLOGY

The NIC™ (Noise Isolation Chamber) is a patented technology that reduces high frequency power line noise.

NICs™ use a non-reactive ferroelectric substance that actually absorbs high frequency noise.  This allows Omega QR-s to reduce noise without any of the negatives associated with power filter coils, capacitors and transformers.

DYNAMIC TRANSIENT CURRENT DELIVERY

Every facet of the Omega power cord has been refined to deliver measurably superior Dynamic Transient Current Delivery.

DTCD™ Analysis is a technique that measures instantaneous current through low impedance electrical conductors and contacts.  Shunyata Research uses it to optimize the design, specification and construction of parts and materials to ensure maximum current delivery performance.  Each part, conductor, noise circuit and material inside the Omega allows for maximum throughput of instantaneous current.

Listeners will experience earth-shaking low-frequency performance from even the highest-current amplifiers as well as dynamic contrasts unheard of outside of a live event.  More than any other design parameter, Shunyata Research’s skill in eliminating resistance and maximizing peak-current delivery is unmatched.

VTX-Ag CONDUCTORS

The Omega’s VTX-Ag conductors are the product of a 25-year design progression steeped in credible science and definitive measurement.

VTX-Ag conductors use an outer tube geometry of the purest form of copper, intended to bring out the purest tone and timbres of recorded instruments and voice.  The Omega’s VTX outer core of pure copper surrounds an inner core of the purest form of silver.  This inner Ag core demonstrably improves macro-dynamics and creates an incredible three dimensional weight and timing in the lower octaves.

CopperCONN™ CONNECTORS

CopperCONN’s™ internal metals are culled from solid copper and use a high-tension spring-loaded contacts for vice-like grip.  This contributes to a measurable improvement in DTCD™ performance and a correspondingly obvious difference in audible performance.

KPIP™ PROCESSING

Omega power cords are treated with Shunyata Research’s proprietary Kinetic Phase Inversion Process.

Four days of continuous KPIP™ processing dramatically reduces burn-in time and significantly improves sonic performance, delivering a relaxed and life-like presentation.

APPLICATIONS

The Omega QR-s is a legitimate power conditioner in a cable.  The patented QR/BB™ technology that drives Shunyata Research’s reference power conditioners is now available in a flexible cable that can be plugged directly into the wall socket.  No intermediate chassis or boxes needed or the requisite extra power cable; fewer connections, more floor and rack space freed up.  The QR/BB™ technology improves dynamics while the integrated NR technology reduces power line noise.

The Omega QR-s is a slightly downsized version of the Omega QR.  The smaller diameter tube, lighter weight and greater flexibility make it ideal for use with source equipment.  The ideal application for the Omega QR-s would be DACs, CD players, preamplifiers, digital processors, integrated amplifiers or other source equipment.

For high power amplifiers, above 200 watt/ch, use the Omega QR.

Vibration control is an essential element in extracting the best performance from Omega QR-s.  Therefore, the Omega QR-s is supplied with Shunyata Research’s exclusive cable suspension elevators.
