New Tesla Power Cords from Synergistic Research

Synergistic Research's first "breakthrough product" was the original AC Master Coupler power cord, which ultimately had a global sales run of over 10,000. The Tesla series represents the first completely new power cord design from Synergistic Research in 8 years, and that alone is newsworthy.
Based around the "Tricon lens" design which was developed for the Tesla Series interconnects and speaker cables, the Tesla Power cords also incorporate the latest "Zero Capacitance Active Shielding" (all except the non-active "T1" cord). One side benefit of the new design is that this whole series of cords are reasonably FLEXIBLE, especially compared to the earlier Synergistic power cords.

"A Visit from Ted"

Synergistic's designer, Ted Denny, made the journey here to The Cable Company in order to bring to us our new Cable Library samples of the Tesla Series power cords, and to demonstrate their effectiveness to our staff of system consultants. For those of you who have not had a chance to visit us, we have three systems in use in our various sound rooms with which we are all familiar. These systems are used for testing and learning purposes so that we can assess the results of changes made to cables, components, isolation devices, or room acoustic treatments. It is a good environment to assess the merits of any changes that are made.
As usual we began by re-orienting ourselves to one of our highest resolution demo systems, anchored by the excellent new Grand Veena speakers from Reference 3A, playing some familiar recordings so that we all had a fresh example of the system's sound prior to making any changes to the system. Cathedral Sound Acoustic Panels: check! The Shakti Hallographs were positioned and focused and the "sound" of the system became locked into everyone's minds and ears.
The first cable that was changed was the power cord for the amplifier - we started with the $800 Tesla T3 model. The effect was an ear opener. By inserting just one of the Tesla power cords into the system, the soundstage expanded significantly, and the images of the instruments within the soundstage became more 3 dimensional and with greater air between the instruments. We all have experienced this type of upgrade previously with high quality cable changes, but as your references improve you start thinking about the law of diminishing returns. Wrong again!
We then tried the $2400 Hologram A power cord in the same location, at the power amp, and got even more of the increase in soundstage and imaging dimensionality. As Ted then changed the other power cords in the system one by one (the $550 T2 to the preamp, the $2400 Hologram D to the digital source), the effects of the cords on the system was cumulative. Midrange became richer and smoother, low and high frequencies became more resolved and relaxed, and those enhanced spatial characteristics were very special.

What does all of this mean?
Synergistic Research was one of the first companies to develop power cords that allowed audio components to sound significantly better than they did with the standard power cords. In earlier SR power cord designs the effect on amplifiers was heard as more lower bass energy, better transient response, and more "air " in the upper frequencies. With the new Tesla Power cords, these characteristics were the sonic foundation onto which (somehow) was added larger soundstaging, 3d imaging, and a sense of ease or effortless power - as if the music was simply emanating from the speakers rather than being pushed out.
OK - anything can sound good one time
Knowing that once is never enough to try and get a handle on any new product, particularly with power cords, Ted stayed for the weekend and took the new Tesla Power cords to a couple of our home audio systems. That gave us a chance to try the cords on both tubes and solid state, and different analog and digital front ends. After evaluation in these systems, the initial impressions were validated - the Tesla Power cords are a big step up for one of the most successful companies in this product category.
We have quite a few of the new Tesla series power cords in the Cable Lending Library, because we know that the demand to try the cords is going to be very high. A Peek at the new Synergistic Tesla Power Conditioner

Ted also brought along a pre-production sample of his new power conditioner for us to try. A Synergistic power conditioner? Yes indeed!
While what we saw was clearly a work in process, what we were able to hear with this new conditioner was also extremely promising. The technology is unlike any other conditioner on the market . There are multiple patents pending that have far reaching applications into audio, video and other areas of industry. More on this when final production is set. With luck we hope to have some demos in the Library starting around year end. Can't wait!
Between this year's Tesla Series signal cables, which have proven to have very broad applications, these new Tesla power cords, and the new line filter, this designer is on a roll!
